Life as a professional can be daunting!

Odds are, you have some significant projects that you'd like to get off the ground. Maybe you're inspired to create a change but you don't know how to go about it. Perhaps you're feeling burnt out and you need support to pivot into a sustainable way of doing things.

No doubt you've taken 1-hour webinars or 1-day courses on topics like networking for professionals and business development for small firms.

And what happens when you get home? The binder goes on the bookshelf and you hunker down to catch up on the files that piled up while you were away...

Professional Retreat

These experiences of brief optimism followed by the status quo can be extremely frustrating. They may leave you wondering whether significant change is actually realistic. Why is the "back to business as usual" experience so common?

A goal without a plan is just a wish.
— Antoine de Saint-Exupery

You need a re-boot and an action plan! You need to distill exactly what you're trying to achieve, find the best possible strategies for you, and take the time to actually translate your ideas into a detailed plan.

Could you create a terrific action plan on your own? Maybe. Could you quickly gather ideas, learn new strategies, and make significant progress with a supportive group in a focused and nourishing environment? Absolutely!

We see you wanting something more, something better for your practice (because we've been there), and we've created just the retreat experience to get you there.

We have built time into the schedule for you to relax and explore in the ways that suit you best. Why?

Have you noticed that ideas and aha moments often come to us when we have focused on an issue and then we let it go for a bit? During these times when you are not actively working on a solution, you actually free up your brain to process your thoughts by doing something completely different. This is why an idea will often pop up seemingly out of nowhere while you're in the shower or driving to work.

The Mayan Riviera is a magical area to explore!

The following activities and attractions are all within 30 minutes of the Professional (Re)Boot Camp beach house:

  • Stunning Mayan ruins at Tulum from the 13th - 15th centuries
  • World-Class snorkeling and scuba diving
  • Restaurants and shops in the laid-back beach towns of Akumal and Tulum
  • Restaurants, shops and nightlife in bustling Playa del Carmen
  • Xel-Ha aquatic theme park where you can snorkel with hundreds of colorful fish and a great diversity of marine species that inhabit its cove and cenotes
  • Cenotes (natural freshwater swimming holes)
  • And more...

You are feeling tempted, right? But maybe you are wondering if this retreat is right for you.

You are the right fit if:

  • You have drive, creativity and passion to put into creating the change that you wish to see in your practice.

  • You are interested in exchanging ideas and hearing about others' successes and missteps.
  • You are a thoughtful and collaborative human being.

Do I have to be a lawyer? No! You need to be (or aspire to be) in a solo or small/medium practice of some kind with some measure of control over how and what you do. Some examples might be mediator, accountant, financial planner, or coach. Of course, lawyers are welcome too!

Do I have to be in the divorce business? Also no. We all happen to work with separating couples so we will have particular insight into your challenges and opportunities if you are a divorce professional however the experience that we have curated will benefit many different types of professionals who need a re-boot.

FAQs

What airport should I fly into? Cancun International Airport (CUN). Many cities across Canada and the U.S. have non-stop flights into Cancun!

How will I get from the airport to the venue? We will provide our participants with information regarding a variety of options, including shuttle, bus, taxi and rental car.

Do I have to participate in all of the retreat workshops? No, you don't. However, the more you put into the experience, the more you'll get out of it!

Can my special diet be accommodated? Probably! Let us know what you need and we will confirm.

What is not included in the price? You are responsible for your flights, transfers to and from the airport, alcoholic beverages, travel insurance, health insurance, and any activities you choose during your free time.

Do I have to be "on" at all times with the other participants? No, this is a retreat! We want you to have plenty of time to rest and re-charge. We expect that there will be a fluid mix of social and private time over the course of the 5 days.

What is the appropriate attire for the retreat? This will be a time to work, play and relax so the attire is casual - not business casual but actual casual! We need to be comfortable to think beyond our comfort zones and open up our minds to possibility. Hello, flip flops in November...

What should I bring with me? Bring comfortable clothes and whatever you need to help you think creatively, feel comfortable, and enjoy yourself in the tropics. A few things you might like to have with you are: a journal or pad of paper, comfortable clothes for yoga, flip flops and/or water shoes, comfortable walking shoes, mask and snorkel, water bottle, sunscreen, and sunhat. If you have one, you may like to bring along your yoga mat.

Still not sure?

Our recent retreat in Hawaii was a phenomenal experience.

We all came back with renewed energy and purpose for our professional practices. There's something absolutely magical and transformative about having extended time with like-minded professionals in a stunning environment.

We focused on business planning for the year, brainstormed challenges, and had time to think creatively about exciting new projects. In our down time, we snorkeled, hiked, journaled, napped, did yoga, and took a surfing lesson. It was extraordinary.
